When people come to see me, they often can’t see the wood for the trees. Together, we switch something on, wake something up, and find our way out of the woods.
But rather than me tell you about it, I’ve asked a few clients if I can share their stories, to help you understand what the experience of working with me might be like:
‘My dream was always to work as a physio with terminally-ill patients. Ten years in, exhausted, consumed by work and undermined by my boss, I was completely demotivated. My confidence was knocked by the realisation that I didn’t want this career after all, and I couldn’t see a way out.
What surprised me about my experience with Sinéad was how transformational it was for my whole life, not just my career. I realised that I was living somewhere I felt isolated and that I had no idea what made me happy. Sinéad gave me the space, emotional support and straightforward common sense to figure out exactly how I wanted life to change. I developed a really clear vision of the job and life I wanted, and it’s all come true – it’s honestly felt like magic. I’ve moved nearer my family where I feel part of a community, and through retraining and volunteering I’ve combined my role as a physio with becoming a trainer for people with obesity who can’t engage in mainstream fitness programmes. Above all, I’m happier and more confident than I’ve ever been, in my ability to manage my career and life.’
‘I’d worked in the public sector my entire career and I’d had enough. I wasn’t really interested in the work I was doing any more, and disagreed with many of the management decisions. As far as I was concerned, it was time for a change, but I couldn’t even start to imagine what that could be.
Working with Sinéad was like taking off the blinkers. The first stage was to become aware of what I loved doing in and out of work – strategy, negotiation, planning, and above all, aviation! I’m hugely passionate about the aviation industry, but have never seen how I could make a stable career of that. We spent several sessions creating a vision of what my ideal role would be, and it’s happened. I’ve moved into a new role, still in public sector, but now liaising with the aviation industry. The two things I’ve taken away from the work with Sinéad are a real belief in my ability to change things at work, and a realisation that the hard part is figuring out what you want. Once that’s done, getting there is just a matter of taking steps.’
‘When I met Sinéad, I was starting a sabbatical due to complete burn out. I’ve always been ambitious and driven, so these feelings of being exhausted, lost and demotivated were really tough for me. I needed to understand how my situation at work had become so difficult — relationships, my career purpose and goals, prioritising — and take back control.
After exploring external opportunities with Sinéad, I realised I wanted to stay at my current company but needed a complete change in my attitude, my confidence and the way I work. It made a huge difference to recognise how out of balance my life was, and take small steps to address this. Over nine weeks, Sinéad helped me take significant strides in transforming my state of my mind, and I am now working towards my next promotion, having been accepted on an internal VP accelerator programme.’
‘My real love (and what I studied) is Art, but I fell into a financial sales career in the City — I’ve always felt pressure to keep up with the lifestyle of others. I came to knowing I wasn’t happy and feeling ready for a career change, but the coaching has been so much more than that!
As we started exploring my values and what’s really important to me, I became aware how my current role conflicted with my core values and the importance of my relationship with my family. This realisation has opened up new possibilities for my career, because I’ve accepted that financial wealth isn’t my primary goal. With , I’m developing a much clearer vision of what I want, to help with this I am doing some volunteering and as soon as I crystalise my vision, I know I have the confidence and skills to get there.’
‘My decision to work with Sinéad was driven by a growing awareness of how much my procrastination tendencies were holding me back. My lifelong passion has been writing, and although I am happy in my work, I wanted to start taking my writing more seriously and see where it could go. I had completed a screenplay, and was a good way through my first novel, but had become completely stuck.
In just two sessions with Sinéad, I gained clarity on the root cause of my procrastinating – I am scared that I’ll be ridiculed for wanting more than a happy, stable life. With Sinéad’s guidance, we’ve started to break down that belief, build a plan to move my writing forward, and identified the resource I have around me to achieve that.
